The Horse Show Season Is Well Underway!

We head back to Raleigh next week for, believe it or not the fifth show of the season already for us! So far, I'm thrilled with the way things are going, and the horses especially seem to be appreciating the relatively warm winter.

Its always nice, for the kids trying to qualify for certain things, to feel like they have a little bit of a head start on doing so. It relieves the pressure some for sure. Mack and Remy, in their last year doing the Big Eq have been busy racking up valuable Maclay and USEF points, Emma is already qualified for Pony Finals in both the Hunters and the Medal, and Maddie is already qualified for Pony Finals in the Medal. Its also nice that these combinations are all in their second year together as a team, so can really focus on being competitive after forging a relationship last year. I think its so important to have more than one year with an equine partner.

Adi has decided to try something new this year, stepping out of the Hunter ring and in to the jumper ring on her new horse, Cupido Du Marais Z, a seasoned A/O Jumper we were lucky to find in Wellington at the beginning of the season.

Bri is getting ready to move up to the 3'3 A/Os next week on her long term partner, Applewood and has also been dabbling in the derbies. Again, its nice when in the move up phase to have the comfort of riding a horse so familiar to you.

Kylie has been tackling the Large Pony division on her families long-owned pony, Stonehenge. Otto was ridden by her older sister prior to Kylie and we love watching him do his job for another family member!

Marens baby, Captivo has been stepping out in the Baby Green division with two Reserve Champion ribbons already. We've had this baby since he was six weeks old and so it is so rewarding to see how he has grown and matured through the years. He has a wonderful brain has been really easy so far!

Lissette is solidifying her relationship with Czech Please this year, already winning two classes, and Olivia has been reunited with Testerosa after four years of college and has already placed 5th in a USHJA Derby and been Reserve Champion in the A/O Hunters. Not bad after a four year hiatus!

More news on shows and everybody else as it happens!!
